Yes like we really know the answer? living in our own little run around 9 to 5 worlds too busy to understand the nature of reality. Some believe what they are TOLD some don't!

The assumption is that life would develop on the surface. Evolution would favour an underground environment, shielded from the radiation.

So "scientists believe the extreme solar activity will likely reduce the ozone of Proxima b's Earth-like atmosphere by 90% within five years"? We know NOTHING about the atmosphere of Proxima B! It may even not have one! More fake news.

Missions to send spacecraft to the planet to examine for signs of life are already in planning, and could happen wiithin decades. Save millions of $! You are too late.

still they can't show a real picture of the ball earth, even nasa admit they are all fake composites, paintings, CGI , no real picture. they can't even show the curvature without faking it with fisheye lenses

Observing the result of 'life' here on this little rock perhaps we should all be grateful the distances between life forms are so vast we will almost certainly never meet any of them.

To Old world order. Before science we had no idea how immense the universe was and how astonishing its properties. Therefore by your reckoning, God loves us doing astronomy.

The places in the universe where life has any chance at all are few and far between. And to get something as magnificent as Earth requires the help from aliens as well.

Too late? Not likely. It isn't likely this is Proxima Centauri's first major flare in billions of years. The planet almost certainly has been blasted many, many times before.

Research also tells me that 18 beers a night is too many and that research is wrong so I assume that this research is also wrong.

Proximal b might have a magnetic field strong enough to shield the planet from the superflare

Oh, yeah, meaning that the radiation, if any, came in 2016, ie 2 years ago and we seem to gave survived.

If Proxima b is 4 light years from Earth that means that four years after the flare some of that radiation will be arriving here...I wouldn't worry to much though, the Inverse Square law comes into effect...the power of the flare will diminish over the square of the distance...phew...

We're not goinig to find life around red dwarfs, their water zone is also their nucIear reactor zone. The way to find what's most likely primordial life is to search for the flukes that make us Earth - the simplets being small inner plannets surrounded by multiple distant gas giants that shield them (a situation which Kepler currently hasn't found anywhere else in the galaxy).

We should considering the idea that on other planets there might be silicon rather than carbon based life which means they would not need water.
